Pearl Jam cancels more tour dates due to illness

Pearl Jam has canceled two more tour dates due to illness, after canceling a show in London last week.

The rock group was scheduled to perform in Berlin on Tuesday and Wednesday, but canceled because “the band has not yet fully recovered.”

It has not been disclosed what type of illness it is or which band members are affected.

They said tickets would be refunded at the time of purchase, adding that they hoped “a new date would have been possible for this leg of the tour” but that they “hope to be able to come to Berlin again soon.”

On Friday they are cancelled their Tottenham Hotspur Stadium show scheduled for Saturday night due to illness of the band, as they had “no other choice”.

The band said in a statement on Instagram: “We regret to announce that the Pearl Jam concerts scheduled for Tuesday, July 2nd and Wednesday, July 3rd in Berlin have been cancelled.

“Despite everyone’s efforts, the bond has still not been fully restored.”

They continued: “The impact of this decision is not lost on us. We deeply feel that so many people have spent their time, money and emotional energy to obtain tickets and then come see the band and it is heartbreaking to have to disappoint you.

“We are also grateful to the many people who work hard to make these shows possible.”

“Trust that we never take these decisions lightly and that we are doing everything we can to help you all.”

The statement ended with: “Thank you for your continued understanding and support, it means the world.”

The band, formed in 1990 in Seattle, Washington, is led by Eddie Vedder, along with lead guitarist Mike McCready, drummer Matt Cameron, bass guitarist Jeff Ament and rhythm guitarist Stone Gossard.

They are currently touring the world to promote their latest album, Dark Matter.

Supporting acts include former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft and Irish indie rockers The Murder Capital.

Their next live show is currently scheduled for July 6th in Barcelona.

The band will kick off the US leg of their tour on August 26.
